EN| The starting point is very easy to find. It is located directly at the main street Carretera de la Barrosa between Los Gallos and Santi Petri. If you come by car, there is a lot of free parking space alongside the main street. On the whole trip there is no stop for refreshment and meal neither shadow. We are walking on rural roads.
ES| El punto de partida se encuentra muy fácil. Está ubicado directamente en la Carretera de la Barrosa entre Los Gallos y Santi Petri. Si te vas en coche puedes encontrar muchos aparcamientos gratis muy cerca al lado de la carretera. Durante todo el recorrido no hay ninguna possibilidad de comprar un refresco o comida ni sombra. El viaje va todo el tiempo por un camino rural.
DE| Der Startpunkt ist ganz einfach zu finden. Er liegt direkt an der Hauptstraße Carretera de la Barrosa auf der Verbindungsstrecke zwischen Los Gallos und Santi Petri. Wenn Du mit dem Auto anfährst, dann findest Du viele Parkmöglichkeiten gleich an der Hauptstraße. Auf der gesamten Strecke gibt es keinen Halt, um Essen oder Trinken zu kaufen und auch keinen Schatten. Der Weg führt über Feldwege.

STAGE 01 | ETAPA 01
Parking Carretera de la Barrosa > Saline Ruins (500 m)
EN| Our starting point (A) is unmistakable. A huge gate let us enter into the nature reserve, here we also find an information board about the trail. We go always straight forward on the rural road first through a small pine forest and then through the wetlands. After about 200 m we pass a statue of the Phoenician tutelary god Melkart. It is part of a thematic route called Ruta de Fenicios (App for download). After further 300 m we end up at a crossing with abandonaded boats and a former saline building (B).
ES| Nuestro punto de partida (A) es inconfundible. Una puerta gigante nos deja entrar al parque natural, aquí también encontramos un panel informativo sobre la ruta. Seguimos el camino siempre recto primero por un pequeño pinar y después por las marismas. Después de 200 m pasamos una estatua de la deidad fenicia Melkart. Forma parte de la Ruta de Fenicios (applicación para descargar). Después de unos 300 m más llegamos a un cruces con barcos abandonados y un antiguo edificio de las salinas (B).
DE| Der Startpunkt (A) ist unverkennbar. Ein großes Tor läßt uns in das Naturschutzgebiet eintreten, hier finden wir auch eine Informationstafel über den Wanderweg. Wir folgen dem Weg immer geradeaus zuerst durch einen kleinen Pinienwald und dann durch das Feuchtgebiet. Nach ca. 200 m passieren wir ein Standbild von dem phönizischen Schutzgott Melkart. Er ist Teil der Ruta de Fenicios (App gibt es zum Download). Nach weiteren 300 m gelangen wir zu einer Kreuzung mit verlassenen Booten und einem alten Gebäudes des Salinenabbaus (B).
STAGE 02 | ETAPA 02
Saline Ruins > Lookout (1,1 km)
EN| We keep on going straight, leaving the building to the right hand and follow the trail steadily. At crossings we always turn left till we arrive at a lookout (D). An information panel tells us more about the birds we can watch there.
ES| Seguimos nuestro camino siempre adelante, dejamos la casa desmoronada a nuestra derecha y continuamos. A los cruces siempre nos dirigimos a la izquierda hasta llegar a un puesto de observación (D). Un panel nos da informaciones sobre cual pajaros podemos ver por aquí.
DE| Wir gehen unseren Weg geradeaus weiter, lassen das verfallene Haus zur rechten liegen und folgen ihm immer weiter. An Wegkreuzungen halten wir uns stets links bis wir zu einer Beobachtungswarte (D) kommen. Eine Hinweistafel erklärt uns, welche Vögel wir durch den Ausguck sehen können.
STAGE 03 | ETAPA 03
Lookout > Parking Los Gallos (1 km)
EN| At the lookout we can follow a path left a little while, it will end at some point in the wetlands. The real way guides us straight through various streams till it ends at the parking of Los Gallos. Although we have to go back the same way, it's worth it. The landscape is wonderful.
ES| Directamente en el punto de observación podemos seguir un sendero a la izquierda, se pierde después de un ratito por las marimas. El verdadero camino va recto en medio de arroyos hasta por fin terminar en el parking de Los Gallos. Aunque tenemos que regresar por esta etapa, merece la pena, el paisaje es maravilloso.
DE| Direkt am Beobachtungspunkt können wir den Weg zur linken noch ein wenig folgen, er verläuft sich dann in dem Feuchtgebiet. Der eigentliche Weg geht geradeaus zwischen den Wasserläufen bis er schließlich an einem Parkplatz in Los Gallos endet. Auch wenn wir diese Etappe wieder zurückgehen müssen, lohnt es sich. Die Landschaft ist wunderschön.
STAGE 04 | ETAPA 04
Parking Los Gallos > Crossing (1 km)
EN| If we don't want to walk at the street, now we have to return part of the same way. Okey, let's go back, we pass once again the lookout, till we arrive at the first crossing (B).
ES| Si no queremos dar la vuelta por la carretera tenemos que regresar el primer parte de la vuelta por el mismo camino. Entonces, damos la vuelta, pasamos el puesto de observación y seguimos hasta el primer cruce (B).
DE| Wenn wir nicht auf der Straße laufen möchten, müssen wir ein kleines Stück denselben Weg wieder zurückgehen. Also gehen wir einfach wieder zurück, kommen wieder an der Beobachtungswarte vorbei und gehen weiter bis zur ersten Kreuung (B).
STAGE 05 | ETAPA 05
Crossing > Crossing (1,6 km)
EN| At the crossing (A) we turn left. The scenery is amazing, we walk through kind of lakes with swimming islands and pass another lookout. The track is leading us directly to the residential neighborhood (B) which builds a noticeable contrast to the nature reserve, and then continues alongside the urbanisation/main street. We follow this way till a crossing (C).
ES| En el cruce (A) giramos por la izquierda. El paisaje es fantástico, nosotros caminamos por lagos con islas flotantes y pasamos otro puesto de observación. El sendero nos dirige directamente al poligono residencial (B) que forma un contraste fuerte con el parque natural, y más tarde continua parallel a la urbanización o sea carretera. Caminamos este sendero hasta llegar a un cruce (C).
DE| An der Wegkreuzung (A) biegen wir jetzt links ab. Die Landschaft ist phantastisch, wir gehen durch Seen mit schwimmenden Inseln hindurch und passieren auch noch einen weitere Beobachtungswarte. Der Weg steuert direkt auf die Wohnsiedlung (B) zu, die einen krassen Kontrast zu dem Naturschutzgebiet bildet, und verläuft dann parallel zur Bebauung bzw. Straße. Wir gehen diesen Weg bis wir an eine Kreuzung kommen (C).
STAGE 06 | ETAPA 06
Crossing > Parking Carretera de la Barrosa (1,1 km)
EN| At the crossing (A) we can decide if we want to choose the short way which will lead us alongside the street till the starting point (D). I recommend to choose the right path and have a walk through the former salines. The way ends at the former saline building (C) from where we walk left to the exit (D). Melkart is greeting once again.
ES| En el cruce (A) podemos decidir si elegimos el camino más corto que nos guia a lo largo de la carretera hasta nuestro punto de salida (D). Te recomiendo coger el camino a la derecha y dar una vuelta por las antiguas salinas. El camino termina otra vez al edificio abandonado salinero (C) de dónde nos vamos por la izquierda hacía la salida. Melkart nos da saludos otra vez.
DE| An der Wegkreuzung (A) können wir uns entscheiden, ob wir geradeaus den kürzeren Weg wählen, der uns direkt entlang der Straße bis zu unserem Ausgangspunkt (D) führt. Empfehlenswert ist es, den rechten Weg zu wählen und noch einen kleinen Bogen durch die ehemaligen Salinen zu wandern. Der Weg endet wieder an dem aufgelassenen Salinenhäuschen (C), von wo wir links zurück zum Ausgang (D) gehen. Melkart grüßt uns noch einmal.
BIRD WATCHING | ORNITHOLOGÍA
EN| The Marimas (wetlands) of the Bahía Cádiz are a nature reserve of high importance. Many rare bird species find here a refuge for breeding or, if they are shifting in winter to Africa, a resting place. It depends of the season and luck which birds you are able to observe. Here are some impressions of my hiking. Don't forget your camera or field glasses!
ES| Las marismas de la Bahía Cádiz son una reserva natural de una alta importancia. Muchos especies de aves raras encuentran aquí una zona de refugio para empollar o en su camino invernal a África una área de descanso. Depende de la temporada y tu suerte que aves puedes observar. Aquí unas impressiones de mi caminata. Llévate tu cámara o prismáticos!
DE| Die Marismas (Feuchtgebiete) der Bahía Cádiz sind ein Naturschutzgebiet von hoher Bedeutung. Viele seltene Vogelarten finden hier einen Rückzugsort zum Brüten oder, wenn sie im Winter nach Afrika ziehen, einen Rastplatz. Es hängt von der Saison und vom Glück ab, welche Vögel man beobachten kann. Hier einige Impressionen meiner Wanderung. Unbedingt eine gute Kamera oder Fernglas mitnehmen!
GOOD TO KNOW
EN| This hiking don't need a long drive and is nevertheless an awesome nature experience. If you ejoy the tour, you will find further trails through the wetlands which partly start at San Fernando. If you posses field glasses, take them with you. And you should also bring with you some additional time, I needed much more time for this small walking tour as expected due to stopping all the time.
ES| Para esta ruta no hace falta un viaje largo y sin embargo es una experiencia en la naturaleza maravillosa. A quien ha gustado este tour, encontrará más senderos por las marimas, partialmente saliendo de San Fernando. Si tienes prismáticos no te pierdas llevártelos. También deberías llevarte tiempo, yo necesité para este pequeño recorrido mucho más tiempo de lo que esperaba porque me paró muchas veces.
DE| Diese Wanderung erfordert keine lange Anfahrt und ist trotzdem ein wunderschönes Naturerlebnis. Wem diese Tour gefallen hat, findet noch weitere Wanderwege durch die Marismas, die zum Teil von San Fernando aus starten. Wenn Du ein Fernglas hast, nimm es unbedingt mit. Und Zeit solltest Du auch mitbringen, ich habe für die kleine Runde viel länger gebraucht als erwartet, weil ich ständig angehalten habe.
